ABOUT ME_
AUDREY ERICKSON
(she/they) is a New England based theater director and new work dramaturg who seeks to create work that uplifts and amplifies intimate stories with magic, mess, and heart. An advocate for new plays and the people who make them, Audrey is passionate about new play development and has worked closely with playwrights, directors, and dramaturgs to usher new plays into the American canon.
Recently, Audrey was a Directing Resident at Milwaukee Rep, where they oversaw understudy rehearsals for the Rep’s 23-24 season and assisted directors on productions in main stage, blackbox, and cabaret spaces. Previously, Audrey has provided artistic and literary support at the O’Neill Theater Center and Portland Stage.
A graduate of Skidmore College with a Bachelor of Science with honors in Theater (directing concentration) and Environmental Science, Audrey has also trained with Tectonic Theater Project, the international theater company Complicité, and served as an artist-in-residence with the Juneau Icefield Research Program.
Audrey’s goal as a theater maker is to welcome new plays to the stage that confront contradiction, embrace the full spectrum of humanity, and find connection in unconventional ways. They are a firm believer that theater is at its best when it is accessible for and in dialogue with a multitude of communities, in both its creation and consumption. Audrey is attracted to ensemble-based narratives and theatrical projects that center queer and female voices, and blend genres and perspectives. Outside of a rehearsal room or literary office, you can find Audrey knitting, reading, and working through her fear of heights at the climbing gym.
